MARITIME
PROJECTS &
CALCULATORS

In recent years, many decarbonisation studies and projects have been initiated to find the best option for reducing carbon emissions from ships. Low Carbon Ship focuses on the switch from fossil fuel to low- and zero-carbon fuels such as hydrogen, ammonia, biodiesel, and electricity, as well as onboard carbon capture and storage (OCCS).

OUR PROJECTS &
CALCULATORS

Decarbonisation Potential Estimates of Alternative Fuels

The decarbonisation potential of alternative fuels for shipping such as CCS installation, LNG, hydrogen, ammonia, biodiesel, bio-methanol and electricity, were studied as a function of vessel type, cargo and voyage.

Alternative Marine Fuel Assessment

22 alternative fuel pathways were assessed and compared in terms of lifecycle energy, lifecycle cost, and lifecycle carbon emission. This assessment provides insights into the potential of low- and zero-carbon marine fuels to decarbonise the shipping industry.

Ship Performance Calculator

This calculator quantifies the cargo capacity loss of a ship when switching to alternative fuel. In addition, the energy, cost, and carbon emission of the ship can also be estimated.

Ship Sizing Calculator

This calculator can be used as a quick calculator for ship sizing during the design stage. It provides the estimates of ship dimensions and cargo capacity in terms of cargo deadweight and cargo volume.

Alternative marine fuels comparison

This calculator compares and quantifies the performance of various alternative fuels by using four performance indicators: cargo attainment rate, specific energy, specific cost, and carbon intensity indicator. The normalised score of various fuels is calculated based on the adjustable weights of each indicator.
